Giant 65mm Sensor in a 70% smaller body : The Alexa 265

ARRI has unveiled the ALEXA 265, a spanking new 65 mm camera poised to redefine large format digital cinematography. Responding to user feedback from the ALEXA 65, the ALEXA 265 offers a dramatically smaller and lighter form factor while delivering superior image quality, with 15 stops of dynamic range and enhanced low-light performance.

Weighing just 3.3 kg—less than one-third the ALEXA 65’s weight—this compact camera retains the 6.5K resolution of its predecessor but introduces a groundbreaking sensor revision. Filmmakers will benefit from improved sensitivity of up to 6400 EI, crisper blacks, and an even lower noise floor, allowing exceptional performance in challenging lighting conditions.

The ALEXA 265 shares ARRI’s state-of-the-art LogC4 workflow, REVEAL Colour Science, and Codex Compact Drive compatibility with the ALEXA 35, enabling streamlined workflows and colour consistency across projects. Its innovative in-camera filter cartridge system allows users to slide various filters in front of the sensor, with metadata integration for seamless post-production.

This revolutionary camera bridges the gap between the artistry of 65 mm filmmaking and the demands of modern productions, making it usable in drones, stabilisers, and tight spaces. Launching in early 2025, the ALEXA 265 is set to inspire a new era of cinematic storytelling.
